NORTH      From Wheatland, Take Hwy 83 South for 3.8 miles, turn East [left] on Hwy 254 for 5.3 miles, Corp of Engineer Outlet Park park entrance on North side [left] of road. The race is below the dam.

EAST          From Lake of the Ozarks, Take Hwy 54 West to Hwy 64/254 -just as you enter City of Hermitage-, turn South [left] on Hwy 64/254 for 3 miles to Hwy 254 turn West [right] -follow the Dam signs-, follow Hwy 254 for 1.8 mile, Corp of Engineer Outlet Park entrance on North side [right] of the road. The race is below the dam.

WEST        From the El Dorado Springs, Take Hwy 54 East to Hwy 64/254 -past Casey’s General Store-, turn South [right] on Hwy 64/254 for 3 miles to Hwy 254 turn West [right] -follow the Dam signs-, follow Hwy 254 for 1.8 mile, Corp of Engineer Outlet Park entrance on North side [right] of the road. The race is below the dam.

About the Area – Pomme de Terre Lake is located in the rugged, tree covered hills of the west-central Missouri Ozarks on the Pomme de Terre River. At multipurpose pool Pomme de Terre Lake covers 7,790 acres and 113 miles of shoreline. Pomme de Terre Lake works in conjunction with several other Corps of Engineers operated lakes to provide flood protection for the Osage River Basin and the lower Missouri and Mississippi Rivers.

The Pomme de Terre Dam is an earth and rockfill embankment, is 7,240 feet long and stands 155 feet above the stream bed. The dam’s impervious core was made of heavily compacted clay and is virtually watertight. The outlet works, consisting of the control tower, tunnel and stilling basin. The control tower is equipped with two hydraulically operated gates which controlled release of water through the dam and reduces the force of the water flowing downstream.
